TEXAS — A 29-year-old Athens man was arrested Friday after authorities say gallon-size bags of marijuana and other drug-related items were found at his home.
According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, a narcotics investigator and two deputies conducted a traffic stop around 1:12 p.m. in the 6000 block of County Road 3925 outside of Athens.
Deputies said the driver of a Ford SUV threw a white plastic bag from the vehicle as it was coming to a stop. The bag was recovered and allegedly contained suspected cocaine. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered a plastic bag of marijuana.
Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the driver’s home on Deer Run Road in Athens. During the search, deputies said they found several gallon-size bags of marijuana, THC vape cartridges, U.S. currency, digital scales, custom baggies, a firearm and a suppressor.
The suspect, identified as David Gallegos, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on two counts of manufacture or delivery of between 4 and 200 grams of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of between 5 and 50 pounds of marijuana and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Gallegos was released Saturday after posting a total bond of $500,000.
