Multiple homes and businesses in North Carolina without power

NORTH CAROLINA — As of Friday afternoon, 1,726 customers across North Carolina are without electricity, according to the latest outage data.

Utility providers are currently tracking 5,871,348 customers statewide. The number of outages represents a small fraction of the total customers monitored.

Wake County has the highest number of reported outages, with 968 customers without power. Franklin County follows with 550 outages. Harnett County reports 72 customers affected.

Other counties reporting outages include Cleveland County with 19 customers without power, Davidson County with 17, Johnston County with 15, Durham County with 10 and Buncombe County with 9.

The majority of outages appear to be concentrated in central North Carolina, particularly in Wake and Franklin counties. No widespread outages have been reported in other parts of the state at this time.

Utility crews are continuing restoration efforts. The causes of the outages were not immediately available Friday afternoon.
