SOUTH CAROLINA — Deputies are searching for a man accused of breaking into a home while armed Thursday night, authorities said.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:30 p.m. to a residence on West Star Drive in Lyman after a report of an armed intruder. When deputies arrived, they found the homeowners had barricaded themselves in a room while speaking to 911 dispatchers.
Everyone inside the home was safely removed, but the suspect had already fled the scene, deputies said. The man is wanted on charges of first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
The suspect has been identified as Bob Orland Babcock. Deputies asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 or the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Office at (864) 596-2189.
No further details were immediately available as the investigation continues.
