
OHIO — Two people were killed Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on U.S. Route 30, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just after 6 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and state Route 511. Authorities said the collision involved a semi-tractor trailer and two passenger vehicles.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. A third person involved in the crash was airlifted from the scene to a hospital for treatment. No additional details about the victims have been released.
Following the crash, U.S. Route 30 was closed in both directions as emergency crews responded and investigators worked at the scene. The Ohio Department of Transportation advised motorists to seek alternate routes and established a detour around the closure.
Eastbound lanes reopened at approximately 9:45 a.m., according to ODOT. All westbound lanes remained closed late Friday morning as crews continued clearing the scene.
Firefighters from Ashland and Hayesville responded to suppress a vehicle fire and assist with rescue efforts.
The crash remains under investigation.
