KENTUCKY — A 24-year-old Russellville man was arrested Wednesday following a traffic stop that led to multiple drug charges.

According to a uniform citation from the Russellville Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle for a faulty taillight and improper registration plate.

When officers approached the vehicle, they reported smelling marijuana. Police said the driver, identified as Nathan Holland of Russellville, admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day but denied having any inside the vehicle.

Authorities conducted a search of the vehicle but did not locate any illegal substances.

Police said that after Holland was placed in a cruiser, officers discovered cocaine in his possession, along with a Diazepam pill and a clear plastic bag found near him. Officers stated the items were not present in the vehicle prior to his placement in the cruiser.

Holland was transported to the Logan County Detention Center.

He is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
