NORTH CAROLINA — A 25-year-old man was arrested after a major narcotics investigation led to the seizure of large quantities of suspected drugs and several firearms from a west Charlotte home, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Daniel Torres was taken into custody after officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of Piedmont Hills Place. Police said the investigation began after they received a community tip reporting a large amount of suspected drugs inside the home.
During the search, officers recovered four firearms, including two that had been reported stolen, along with 368 rounds of ammunition, seven magazines and body armor.
Investigators also seized a significant quantity of suspected narcotics, including approximately 226.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, 121.4 grams of suspected heroin and more than 12,000 grams of suspected marijuana wax.
Additional items recovered included approximately 352.3 grams of suspected promethazine, 30 suspected amphetamine pills, 859.5 grams of suspected marijuana oil, 9,804.5 grams of suspected marijuana, 136 grams of suspected marijuana-infused food and 916.7 grams of suspected psilocybin.
Police said they also found six scales, two grinders, two gas masks and about $1,989 in cash.
Torres faces multiple charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, heroin and marijuana, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
CMPD said the case demonstrates the impact of community involvement in helping law enforcement remove illegal drugs and firearms from neighborhoods.
