
SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another was critically injured Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a dry retention pond behind a school in Greenville County, authorities said.
According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred near 1830 West Georgia Road behind Brashier Middle College around the time students were being dismissed from school.
Investigators said the incident began as a two-vehicle collision in the school’s parking lot. As a result of the crash, one of the vehicles traveled off an embankment and plunged into a dry retention pond. Two people were inside that vehicle.
One of the occupants was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second person was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The identity of the victim has not been released.
