GEORGIA — A vehicle fire caused significant traffic disruptions Tuesday on Interstate 95 southbound near mile marker 58, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
All southbound lanes were initially closed near the State Route 57/Wiregrass Trail area as crews responded to the fire. GDOT later reported the vehicle had been moved to the shoulder, allowing some lanes to reopen.
As of early Tuesday evening, two right lanes remained blocked while crews continued cleanup efforts. GDOT estimated the roadway would be fully cleared by 7:15 p.m.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as delays were expected during the evening commute.
