MARYLAND — A Severn man and a teenage passenger were arrested Monday morning following a traffic stop in which police discovered a loaded handgun and a large quantity of suspected drugs, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Police said the stop occurred around 8:25 a.m. on Feb. 9, when an officer pulled over a white Lexus near the intersection of New Disney Road and Westbury Lane in Severn.

During the investigation, officers seized several bottles containing approximately 257 grams of suspected promethazine and a promethazine/codeine mixture, authorities said.

A loaded 9mm handgun was also recovered during the traffic stop, police reported.

The driver was identified as Mashhad Devon Lewis, 23, of Severn. A 16-year-old male passenger, also from Severn, was in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Both were charged in connection with the incident. Police did not immediately release additional details about the specific charges or the circumstances leading to the traffic stop.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not provided further information.
