
LOUISIANA — Three people were arrested Sunday afternoon following an attempted car burglary at the Gate City Food Mart, according to police.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. when the suspects allegedly attempted to steal a firearm from a vehicle parked at the business. Police say that the vehicle’s owner was able to retrieve the gun from the suspects. Afterward, the owner fired multiple shots, but no injuries were reported.
Police arrested Gerren Hayes, 21, on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm.
Two additional suspects, Delaney Givens, 17, and Jordan Johnson, 18, were also taken into custody. Both were charged as principals to aggravated assault and principals to simple burglary, police said.
The incident took place in Zachary. Authorities did not release further details about the circumstances leading up to the attempted burglary.
The case remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
