One person dead after truck crashes into tree in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — A man was killed Tuesday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a tree in Lancaster County, according to emergency officials.

Dispatchers said the crash happened around 6:42 a.m. at the intersection of Creek Hill Road and Hartman Station Road in East Lampeter Township. Police reported that the truck drove off the roadway and struck a tree. A witness called 911 to report the crash.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities said no other people were inside the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.

Photos from the scene showed the pickup truck was heavily damaged and destroyed in the impact as it was later towed away.

The crash remains under investigation by the East Lampeter Township Police Department. Officials have not released information about what may have caused the vehicle to leave the road.
