SOUTH CAROLINA — A crash involving downed power lines has forced the closure of part of a roadway in Spartanburg Tuesday morning, prompting officials to urge drivers to avoid the area.
According to the Spartanburg City Fire Department, Drayton Road is closed near the intersections of Old Charlotte Road and Maryland Avenue after a crash brought power lines down across the roadway.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to secure the area while utility crews addressed the damaged lines.
Officials said the road closure is necessary to protect public safety and to allow first responders and utility workers to complete repairs. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes and avoid the area until further notice.
