NORTH CAROLINA — A 22-year-old man has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian near Smithfield Packing, according to the Kinston Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the scene on Feb. 7 and located both the victim and a witness. Investigators identified Jaden Grant, 22, as the driver involved in the incident.
Authorities determined the hit-and-run was intentional and related to a domestic situation. Grant was located nearby and taken into custody without incident.
Grant is being held in the Lenoir County Jail. He is charged with hit and run and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Police said the victim was transported to ECU Health for treatment and is recovering from his injuries.
