
VIRGINIA — As of Monday morning, thousands of homes and businesses across Virginia are without electricity, according to the latest statewide outage data.
Approximately 2,571 customers are reported without power statewide, representing about 0.06% of the 4,081,077 electric customers tracked across the Commonwealth.
Compared nationally, Virginia ranked sixth in the United States for the total number of customers without power and 10th for the percentage of customers affected.
Outages were spread across multiple localities. Of Virginia’s 132 counties and independent cities, James City Countyreported the highest number of outages, with 468 customers without power.
By percentage, James City was also the hardest hit, with about 1.15% of customers affected. Other counties and cities reporting notable outages included Cumberland, Richmond City, Henrico, Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Alexandria, and Prince Edward.
A total of 23 electric utilities were reporting outages statewide. Dominion Energy accounted for the largest number of customers without power, with 2,007 outages reported. Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative had the highest percentage of customers affected, at approximately 1.27%.
Utility crews continued to work to restore service, though no specific restoration timelines were immediately available.
