FLORIDA — A man was killed late Sunday night after a side-by-side utility vehicle crashed into the back of an SUV in Jacksonville, according to police.
The crash occurred around 10 p.m. in the 8400 block of Fort Caroline Road, according to a news release from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) traveling westbound struck the rear of a Ford Escape that was being driven by a woman.
Police said the UTV was carrying six occupants at the time of the crash. The impact caused the UTV to overturn, ejecting all six people from the vehicle.
All occupants of the UTV were transported to a hospital for treatment. One man was pronounced dead at the hospital, while another man was listed in life-threatening condition. The remaining occupants were also treated, though their conditions were not immediately released.
No additional details were provided, and the crash remains under investigation.
