TEXAS — A months-long narcotics investigation in the Texas Hill Country ended with a high-speed chase and the arrest of a suspect accused of distributing large quantities of illegal drugs across multiple counties.

According to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office, investigators began examining suspected narcotics activity in December 2025 and January 2026 involving a man believed to be selling drugs in Gillespie CountyKendall County, and surrounding areas. The investigation was conducted with assistance from special agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Sheriff’s office narcotics investigators said they purchased drugs from the suspect on three separate occasions. Some of the pills sold were orange tablets the suspect claimed were Adderall. Laboratory testing later determined the pills were counterfeit and contained methamphetamine. Based on those purchases, authorities obtained three felony warrants on Feb. 4, 2026.

Investigators said the suspect later arranged to sell a larger quantity of narcotics in Fredericksburg. During the attempted arrest on Feb. 5, officials reported that the suspect fled in a vehicle, intentionally striking a patrol unit occupied by a Gillespie County investigator and nearly hitting a DPS agent who was on foot.

The suspect, identified as Ryan McGill, led authorities southbound at speeds reaching 120 miles per hour, driving into oncoming lanes and through the highway median. After crossing into Kendall County, spike strips were deployed, bringing the pursuit to an end.

A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected methamphetamine pills, cocaine pills, MDMA, psilocybin-infused chocolate bars, THC products, and marijuana. McGill was booked into the Gillespie County Jail and faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault against a public servant, delivery of controlled substances, evading arrest in a vehicle, and delivery of marijuana.

Authorities emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court and thanked assisting agencies for their role in the arrest.
