PENNSYLVANIA — Many Pennsylvania school districts are adjusting their Monday morning schedules due to extreme cold and winter weather conditions.
In the Pittsburgh region, numerous districts will start classes later than normal. Bethel Park School District will operate on a two-hour delay, with modified kindergarten hours, as schools prepare for sub-zero temperatures early Monday. A boil-water advisory affecting several Bethel Park buildings has also prompted special precautions, including bottled water service and additional sanitation efforts.
Across western Pennsylvania, dozens of districts are reporting two-hour delays for February 9. These include Baldwin-Whitehall School District, Aliquippa School District, Butler Area School District, Canon-McMillan School District, Bethlehem-Center School District, and others, including Avella Area, Armstrong, Carlynton, and Blessed Trinity Academy.
Additional western districts such as Charleroi School District and Washington School District will also delay openings by two hours to allow safer travel for buses and families.
Families should check district websites and alert systems for the latest information before heading out.
