TEXAS — A missing Wood County woman was found dead Saturday in a rural area of the county, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said 76-year-old Laurie Harberson had been the subject of a silver alert after she was reported missing on Jan. 23. The alert was dismissed after her body was discovered in a wooded area about a half-mile from her vehicle.
Deputies said Harberson’s SUV was found Friday stuck on a Wood County Electric power line near County Road 4539 by a person installing corn feeders on nearby property. A search of the area was conducted, but Harberson was not located until Saturday.
Officials said Harberson is believed to have died from exposure related to the recent winter storm. No foul play was reported.
The investigation remains ongoing.
