TEXAS — A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after authorities say he fired a gun at a tow truck driver who was attempting to repossess a vehicle in Bell County.

According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance involving gunfire in the 7400 block of Sparta Road, just west of Belton, at approximately 2 p.m.

Investigators said the preliminary investigation determined that Ryan Neal Amos exited his residence and confronted the tow truck driver with a handgun while the driver was attempting to repossess a vehicle. As the driver fled the scene, Amos fired the weapon, striking the tow truck. Authorities confirmed that no one was physically injured during the incident.

Deputies attempted to make contact with Amos, but he initially refused to come out of the residence. The sheriff’s office requested assistance from its SWAT team, crisis negotiators, and criminal investigators. The Temple Police Department also assisted by deploying a drone to obtain a visual of the residence, allowing officers to maintain a safe distance.

After negotiations, Amos surrendered to deputies without incident and was taken into custody. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $45,000, and he remains held at the Bell County Jail.
