
SOUTH CAROLINA — Spartanburg police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.
Officers with the Spartanburg Police Department responded around 1:20 a.m. to North Center Street, where they found a man lying in a driveway suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, witnesses said the victim had been attending a party at a nearby home. Several other people were present at the gathering, and some fled the area at the time of the shooting.
Investigators said there may have been an argument over money that led to the shooting. No suspects have been identified, but one witness described the shooter as a Black man with low-cut hair who was wearing a red jacket and red pants.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation and will release the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
