
NORTH CAROLINA — Scattered power outages have been reported across North Carolina Friday evening, leaving more than 1,600 homes and businesses without electricity statewide.
As of Friday evening, 1,669 customers are without power, accounting for approximately 0.03% of the 5,868,758 electric customers tracked across the state. The outage data was last updated about three minutes prior to release.
North Carolina ranked eighth nationwide for the total number of power outages and seventh for the percentage of customers affected.
Out of the state’s 100 counties, Haywood County reported the highest number of outages, with 947 customers without power. Haywood County was also the hardest hit by percentage, with about 2.17% of customers affected.
A total of 98 electric utilities are tracked in North Carolina. Haywood EMC reported the most outages, with 922 customers without power, and also had the highest percentage of customers affected, at approximately 3.15%.
Restoration efforts were ongoing Friday evening.
