OHIO — Two men were arrested Friday after law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence in Meigs County and seized suspected fentanyl, drug distribution items, and multiple firearms, according to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the search warrant was carried out at a home in the 100 block of Union Avenue in Pomeroy. During the search, investigators reported finding a substantial quantity of suspected fentanyl, along with packaging materials, scales, and other items commonly associated with the illegal distribution of narcotics. Multiple loaded firearms were also discovered in various locations throughout the residence, deputies said.

As a result of the search, Austin Clutter of Lewisburg, West Virginia, and John Barnes of Pomeroy were arrested. Both men were charged with possession of drugs and having weapons under disability. Clutter was additionally charged with trafficking in drugs, according to the sheriff’s office.

“This raid demonstrates our continued commitment to dismantling sophisticated drug networks that threaten the safety and well-being of our communities,” said Scott Fitch in a statement. “Operations like this send a clear message that drug activity will not be tolerated in Meigs County.”

No further details were immediately released.
