NORTH CAROLINA — What began as a routine traffic stop in Rocky Mount resulted in a significant drug and weapons seizure, according to the Rocky Mount Police Department.
Police said that on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, officers with the department’s Community Action Team stopped a vehicle for an expired registration. The driver was identified as Traveon Johnson, 21.
During the stop, officers said they developed probable cause to search Johnson and the vehicle. The search led to the discovery of more than 177 grams of heroin — approximately 15 bricks — along with two firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Johnson was taken into custody without incident. Authorities did not immediately release details on potential charges or court dates.
Police are asking anyone with information related to narcotics activity in the area to contact the Rocky Mount Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through the tip411 system.
