MICHIGAN — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Kalkaska and eastern Grand Traverse counties, in effect until 7 a.m. Friday.
Heavy snowfall is expected to continue, with an additional 4 to 8 inches forecasted.
Since Thursday morning, total snow accumulation has ranged between 6 and 12 inches, with some areas—especially in Kalkaska County—seeing even higher amounts.
The storm is expected to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly on roads, bridges, and overpasses, which may become slick.
Visibility could drop below a quarter-mile due to falling and blowing snow.
Officials warn that lake-effect snow can cause rapidly changing conditions, with some areas experiencing heavy snowfall while others remain relatively clear.
Drivers should be prepared for sudden reductions in visibility and deteriorating road conditions.
Residents are advised to limit travel if possible and use caution when on the roads.
