ILLINOIS — A joint investigation by the Livingston and Marshall County Sheriff’s Offices resulted in the arrest of two Wenona men on drug and weapons charges earlier this week.

According to authorities, James Murrow and Brandon Burash were arrested around 9 p.m. on Feb. 2 during coordinated enforcement actions in Pontiac and Wenona. During the investigation, officers seized approximately 14 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, commonly referred to as magic mushrooms, along with a firearm, a blank weapon and ammunition.

Both men were taken to the Marshall County Jail and appeared in court on Wednesday.

Burash pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm without a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card. He was released from custody with orders to report to pretrial services. His trial is scheduled for Aug. 5.

Murrow is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, a Class 3 felony. A preliminary hearing in his case is set for March 18.

No additional details were released by authorities.
