More than 65 people arrested following drug operation in Indiana

INDIANA — More than 65 people have been arrested following a 15-month, multi-agency investigation targeting illicit narcotics, firearms, and illegal currency activity across north-central Indiana.

According to a news release issued Wednesday by the Indiana State Police, investigators executed more than 20 search warrants in Howard, Grant, Miami, and Fulton counties during the course of the investigation. Authorities said the operation resulted in more than 200 combined criminal charges against those arrested.

State police reported that the search warrants led to the seizure of approximately 3,575 grams of methamphetamine, 4,470 counterfeit fentanyl pills, 200 prescription pills, 120 grams of cocaine, 40 grams of heroin, 13 firearms, 11 bottles of the prescription medication sucralfate, and more than $15,000 in U.S. currency.

Officials said the investigation was part of an ongoing effort to disrupt the transportation of illegal drugs through Indiana and to hold those involved accountable.

Several individuals were identified by police in connection with the investigation. In Howard County, Deonte Hall is facing five counts of dealing methamphetamine, a top-level felony, along with a charge of unlawful carrying of a handgun, a low-level felony.

In Grant County, Malachi Cook faces four counts of dealing in a cocaine narcotic drug, also classified as a top-level felony. Cook is additionally charged with maintaining a common nuisance, which police described as a continuous violation involving illegal drug activity.

In Miami County, Kain Burthay is facing four counts of dealing methamphetamine and an additional charge of neglect of a dependent, a low-level felony. In Fulton County, Shawn Good is the only individual arrested so far and faces three counts of dealing methamphetamine.

The investigation remains ongoing.
