MICHIGAN — A Monroe woman is facing multiple charges after police say she was caught stealing merchandise and was found in possession of methamphetamine at a CVS Pharmacy Tuesday morning.
According to the Monroe Police Department, officers responded to a report of retail fraud at the CVS Pharmacy in the 900 block of South Monroe Street at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Store employees provided officers with a description of a woman who was allegedly stealing items, as well as information about a second person waiting in a vehicle outside the store.
Police located a 41-year-old Monroe woman inside the store and reported she was in possession of more than $500 worth of CVS merchandise. Officers also said they found narcotics paraphernalia on the woman, including a syringe and methamphetamine.
Investigators then searched the vehicle parked outside the store and found the woman’s juvenile daughter inside. Police reported locating additional methamphetamine, a meth pipe, and multiple bags of suspected stolen merchandise from other stores inside the vehicle.
The juvenile was released to a family member. The woman was charged with retail fraud and possession of methamphetamine, according to police.
The case is being forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible additional charges. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Monroe Police Department at (734) 243-7500.
