GEORGIA — A routine traffic stop in north Georgia led to a major drug trafficking arrest after deputies said conflicting statements from two occupants raised suspicion.
According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a white Ford Focus on Jan. 28 after observing traffic violations. During the stop, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officials said inconsistencies in the explanations given by the driver and passenger prompted further investigation.
“Several parts of the story provided by the driver and passenger did not add up,” the sheriff’s office stated.
The UCSO Narcotics Unit was called to assist at the scene. Deputies later developed probable cause to search the vehicle, where they discovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, drug packaging materials, and a loaded 9mm handgun.
Two Atlanta residents were arrested in connection with the incident. Timika Felton, 45, was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and no insurance.
Brian Price, 32, was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
The investigation remains ongoing.
