PENNSYLVANIA — Brookville Borough police say a local taxidermist is facing dozens of theft-related charges after an investigation into allegations that he failed to complete paid taxidermy work and did not return customers’ property.
According to the Brookville Borough Police, the investigation involves 53-year-old Chad Kurtz, the owner of Chad Kurtz Taxidermy. Police say the case began in 2024 after multiple complaints were filed by customers who reported paying for taxidermy services that were never completed.
Investigators allege that at least 16 victims provided Kurtz with payments and/or animal hides for taxidermy work that he failed to finish. Police say that when customers later questioned him, Kurtz did not refund their money or return the animal hides.
Kurtz is currently jailed and faces multiple charges, including deceptive business practices, theft, and receiving stolen property.
Officials are asking anyone with information related to the investigation, or anyone who believes they may be a victim, to contact the Brookville Police Department at 814-849-5323.
