GEORGIA — A man has been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a business in Glynn County, according to police.

The Glynn County Police Department said officers responded around 2:51 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, to a reported robbery at a business in the 700 block of Scranton Road. Store employees told officers they were assaulted by a male suspect who attempted to take cash from the register. The suspect fled the scene after the robbery was unsuccessful.

Following an investigation, police determined the suspect was armed with a knife during the incident. Officers deployed a K-9 unit and searched the surrounding area in an effort to locate him.

Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Joshua Hurtado of Brunswick. Hurtado was taken into custody and transported to GCPD headquarters for questioning. After obtaining search warrants, detectives searched Hurtado’s residence and a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident.

Hurtado was later booked into the Glynn County Detention Center on charges of criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of certain crimes. Police said Hurtado was also arrested on unrelated charges, including first-degree burglary and multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Glynn County Police Department non-emergency line at (912) 554-3645 or report tips anonymously through Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333.
