One person arrested for DUI following hit-and-run incident in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — A man has been arrested on felony DUI and hit-and-run charges after two pedestrians were struck by a pickup truck Saturday night in South Carolina, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, on Shell Point Road near Broad River Drive. Investigators said Richard Davidson was driving a Ram pickup truck eastbound on Shell Point Road when he struck two women who were walking.

After the collision, Davidson left the scene, authorities said. He was later located and arrested. Davidson was charged with two counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury and two counts of hit-and-run resulting in great bodily injury.

According to jail records, Davidson was booked into jail at 1:55 a.m. Sunday and was released on bond later that afternoon at 4:01 p.m.

The condition of the two women involved in the crash has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
