OHIO — Several vehicles were involved in crashes caused by icy road conditions during the Monday morning commute, leading to the temporary closure of the ramp from Interstate 71 South to Interstate 70 East in Columbus.
A public safety dispatcher said the crashes were first reported around 6:05 a.m. Officials reported multiple crashes involving a total of six vehicles. No injuries were reported.
Traffic cameras operated by the Ohio Department of Transportation showed heavy traffic backups on Interstate 71 near Long Street as a result of the closure.
According to the dispatcher, officers remained on scene while waiting for salt trucks to treat the icy roadway. The ramp reopened before 8 a.m. Traffic conditions gradually improved after the ramp was cleared and reopened.
