Pennsylvania school closings and delays for Monday

PENNSYLVANIA — School districts across Pennsylvania have announced a range of closings, delays and schedule changes for Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, as communities continue to deal with hazardous conditions from recent snow and ice.

In the Northeastern region, several districts including Scranton School District and other area schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday. Schools such as St. Clare-St. Paul’s, St. Mary Mount Carmel and St. Nicholas-Mary’s in the region also plan delayed starts due to lingering slick roads and winter weather concerns.

In Southeastern and South-Central Pennsylvania, school systems have been issuing delays, closings and virtual learning days. Superintendents in multiple districts indicated decisions were made in consultation with transportation officials and local weather reports because road conditions remain uneven and potentially unsafe for buses and student drop-offs.

In Western Pennsylvania, updates show a number of districts have also reported closings or adjusted schedules on Monday because of snow-covered roads and continuing cleanup efforts. A list of specific closures and delays — including for public and parochial schools — is being maintained locally, reflecting conditions that vary widely across counties.

In reading area schoolsReading School District confirmed it will operate on a two-hour delay Monday due to inclement weather, with bus students instructed to report later in the morning.

Parents and caregivers are advised to check directly with their local school district websites, social media pages or automated messaging systems for the most current updates, as schedules may change if weather conditions improve or worsen overnight.
