
MICHIGAN — A 21-year-old man has died following a shooting in Benton Harbor early Sunday morning, according to police.
The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety said officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 600 block of Columbus Avenue, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to Corewell Health, where he later died from his injuries.
The victim’s name has not been released as police work to notify his next of kin.
Detectives are actively investigating the shooting. Police said no suspect has been identified at this time, but investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. Officers are expected to maintain a visible presence in the area as the investigation continues.
