ALABAMA — Thousands of customers across Alabama are without electricity Saturday afternoon as power outages were reported in multiple counties across the state, according to the latest outage tracking data.

As of Saturday afternoon, 3,463 homes and businesses are without power in Alabama. That represents about 0.13% of the 2,603,735 electric customers tracked statewide. The data was last updated minutes before the report.

Nationally, Alabama ranked seventh among U.S. states for the total number of power outages and also ranked seventh for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of Alabama’s 67 counties, Talladega County reported the highest number of outages, with 866 customers without electricity. Talladega County was also the hardest hit by percentage, with approximately 1.86% of its customers affected.

Outages were spread across several utility service areas. Of the 32 utilities tracked statewide, Alabama Power reported the largest number of customers without service, with about 3,100 outages. Meanwhile, Pioneer Electric Cooperative recorded the highest percentage of customers affected, with roughly 0.89% of its customer base without power.
