Thousands without power in Georgia

GEORGIA — Thousands of customers across Georgia are without electricity Saturday afternoon as scattered power outages were reported statewide, according to the latest outage tracking data.

As of Saturday afternoon, 4,232 homes and businesses are without power in Georgia. That represents approximately 0.08% of the 5,358,129 electric customers tracked across the state. The outage data was updated minutes before the report.

Nationally, Georgia ranked fifth among U.S. states for the total number of customers without power and ranked 10th for the percentage of customers affected.

Of Georgia’s 159 counties, Cherokee County reported the highest number of outages, with 2,322 customers without electricity. Cherokee County was also the hardest hit by percentage, with about 1.76% of its customers affected.

Power disruptions were reported across service areas of multiple utilities. Among the 46 utilities tracked statewide, Cobb EMC reported the highest number of outages, with 2,326 customers without power. Cobb EMC also had the highest percentage of customers affected, at approximately 1.03%.

Utility crews continue to assess conditions and work to restore service as quickly as possible.
