PENNSYLVANIA — Schools across much of Pennsylvania are adjusting schedules for Friday due to lingering impacts from recent winter weather, including heavy snow and dangerously low temperatures.
Western Pennsylvania and Statewide Delays
Many districts in western and central Pennsylvania are reporting delays or remote learning schedules for Friday, Jan. 30. That includes area schools operating on two-hour delays or continuing remote instruction as crews continue cleanup and icy conditions remain a concern.
In Forest County, all schools in the Forest Area School District will operate on a two-hour delay Friday.
Radio station and local education listings show additional adjusted schedules including:
- Remote learning and delays in some Washington County districts such as chartering remote instruction through Friday for certain schools.
- Two-hour delays for districts including Peters Township School District and Ringgold School District.
Jefferson County and Nearby Areas
A local list of area districts in Jefferson County and surrounding areas shows numerous schools on two-hour delayschedules for Friday, including:
- Allegheny‑Clarion Valley School District
- Brookville Area School District
- DuBois Area School District
- Punxsutawney Area School District
and others.
Closures or flexible instruction days in that region include:
- Butler Area School District — closed
- Grove City School District — remote instruction day
- Wilmington Area School District — flexible instruction day
along with closures at several private and parochial schools.
Weather Conditions Driving Decisions
The adjustments come as extreme cold persists and many areas are still digging out from a significant winter storm that brought heavy snow earlier in the week, prompting widespread schedule changes across the state.
Families are encouraged to check directly with their local district for the most current status updates before Friday morning.
