ALABAMA — A man is in custody after crashing his vehicle twice and leaving the scene of both accidents Wednesday night in Decatur, according to police.
The Decatur Police Department said officers first responded to a two-vehicle crash near a Whataburger restaurant. Authorities said one of the vehicles involved fled the scene before crashing a second time near the intersection of Danville Road and Hartung Street.
Police said after the second crash, the driver attempted to run from the scene but was apprehended by officers a short distance away. No injuries were reported in either crash.
The driver was identified as Nathan Russell. Police said he was charged with driving under the influence, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
Russell was transported to and booked into the Morgan County Jail. He was issued a $3,300 bond.
