KENTUCKY — A 14-year-old boy died Wednesday afternoon after an accidental shooting in Louisville’s California neighborhood, according to police.
Louisville Metro Police said officers were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 1800 block of Greenwood Avenue. When they arrived, they found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said the initial investigation indicates the boy accidentally shot himself. No additional details about the circumstances of the shooting were released.
The boy, who has not yet been identified, was transported to UofL Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
LMPD’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
