NORTH CAROLINA — The National Park Service is leading an investigation after a man was found dead in the dunes along the eastern North Carolina coast, officials said.
According to the National Park Service, a visitor to Cape Hatteras National Seashore discovered the body Sunday in the dunes south of off-road vehicle ramp two.
Public Affairs Specialist Mike Barber said the case is not related to any active investigations in Dare County.
Officials released limited information about the incident, and no additional details about the man or the circumstances surrounding his death were immediately available. The investigation remains ongoing.
