SOUTH CAROLINA — The Marlboro County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man who died following a shooting Monday evening in Bennettsville.
Coroner De’Aron Smith identified the victim as Towan Harrington, 18, of Bennettsville.
The shooting occurred at the Bennetts Pointe Apartments along Cheraw Highway in Bennettsville. Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Larry Turner said Harrington sought help after suffering gunshot wounds but later died from his injuries.
The Bennettsville Police Department is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is also involved.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details were immediately available.
