MICHIGAN — Westbound Interstate 94 is closed at Sprinkle Road Tuesday morning due to numerous crashes caused by hazardous weather conditions, authorities said.
According to the Michigan State Police, roads in the area are icy and visibility is low because of whiteout conditions. Troopers said they have responded to multiple crashes, including several jackknifed semi trucks, as a result of the weather.
No injuries have been reported at this time, police said.
First responders have not provided an estimate on when westbound lanes of Interstate 94 will reopen. Drivers are being asked to seek alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
Police are urging motorists to use extreme caution while traveling as winter weather continues to impact road conditions.
