SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were arrested in Colleton County after deputies seized a large quantity of drugs, firearms, and cash following a months-long narcotics investigation.

According to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the arrests stem from an undercover drug investigation that began in November 2025 and concluded in January 2026. Investigators said approximately 115 grams of methamphetamine were seized during the course of the investigation.

On Friday, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence located at 104 Michelle Lane. During the search, authorities seized about 209 grams of methamphetamine, 20 firearms, and more than $5,000 in cash, a CCSO spokesperson said.

As a result of the search, 61-year-old Dwayne Edward Wheat and 50-year-old Elizabeth Joanne Wheeler were arrested.

Wheat is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, multiple counts of trafficking cocaine base (crack), four counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of other controlled substances. He was issued a $227,000 cash bond and was released on Monday, according to CCSO.

Wheeler is charged with possession with intent to distribute and a General Sessions bench warrant. She received a $20,000 cash bond and remained in custody at the Colleton County Detention Center as of Monday.
