Portion of I-55 in Illinois shut down following semi-truck crash

ILLINOIS — A crash involving two semi-trucks left part of northbound Interstate 55 in Sangamon County covered in vegetables early Monday morning.

According to the Illinois State Police, the collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. near the Glenarm exit. One of the trucks was hauling a load of tomatoes and cucumbers, which spilled across the roadway following the crash.

Officials said no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

Due to cleanup efforts, the right lane of northbound I-55 was closed for a time Monday morning. Motorists were advised to use caution while traveling through the area as crews worked to clear the roadway.
