Police searching for shooting suspect in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Asheville police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect following a shooting reported Monday morning.

According to the Asheville Police Department, officers were called to a business along Fairview Road around 7:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The victim was transported to Mission Hospital for treatment and is listed in critical condition.

Police have identified the suspect as 45-year-old Kevin Hyatt. Investigators said Hyatt fled the scene before officers arrived. He is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, heavy set, weighing about 300 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Authorities warn the public not to approach Hyatt, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
