
IOWA — One person was killed and two others were injured in a late-night crash Saturday in Fairfield, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 10:18 p.m. in the 2100 block of Hemlock Avenue near Cedar Creek. Investigators said 18-year-old Emmelia Miller was driving northbound on Hemlock Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle due to weather conditions. Her vehicle was then struck by another vehicle.
Miller died as a result of the crash. Authorities said she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Two passengers in Miller’s vehicle were injured, including a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old. The 24-year-old was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment. The extent of the 26-year-old’s injuries was not released.
The 20-year-old driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
