NORTH CAROLINA — Garner police are responding to a barricade situation involving a man inside a home on Alta Crest Lane, according to authorities.
Police said officers were called to the residence after a report that a man assaulted a woman inside the home. When officers arrived, the man allegedly attempted to assault responding officers before barricading himself inside the house.
Law enforcement officials said officers are actively attempting to communicate with the man in an effort to resolve the situation safely.
As a precaution, residents in the immediate area have been asked to shelter in place until further notice. Police did not release additional details, including the condition of the woman involved or whether any injuries were reported.
The incident remains ongoing, and authorities said more information will be provided as it becomes available.
