
GEORGIA — Several thousand customers across Georgia are without electricity as winter weather continues to impact parts of the state.
According to PowerOutage.us, 19,133 homes and businesses are currently without power statewide, representing 0.36% of the 5,341,373 customers tracked. Georgia now ranks sixth in the nation for total power outages and ninth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.
Of Georgia’s 159 counties, Rabun County is experiencing the greatest impact. The county reports 4,826 customers without power, accounting for 29.75% of its customers, the highest percentage affected statewide.
Among utilities, Georgia Power reports the largest number of outages, with 11,164 customers currently without electricity. Haywood EMC has the highest percentage of customers affected, with 9.33% without power.
Utility crews are continuing restoration efforts as conditions allow. Officials note that outages may fluctuate as repairs continue and as lingering weather-related issues, such as fallen trees and damaged power lines, are addressed. Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates and use caution around downed lines.
