TENNESSEE — Hundreds of thousands of residents across Tennessee are without electricity as a major round of winter weather continues to strain the state’s power grid.
According to PowerOutage.us, 278,585 homes and businesses are currently without power statewide, representing 8.17% of the 3,408,030 customers tracked. Tennessee now ranks first in the nation for total power outages and second nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, highlighting the scale of the disruption.

Outages are most concentrated in Davidson County, where 157,236 customers are without electricity. By percentage, Davidson County is the hardest hit area in the state, with 87.75% of customers affected, leaving much of the county in the dark.
Among utilities, Nashville Electric Service reports the highest number of outages, with 173,894 customers without power. Cumberland Valley Electric has the highest percentage of customers impacted, with 44.44% currently without electricity.
Utility officials warn that outage numbers could continue to fluctuate as freezing temperatures, ice accumulation, and falling tree limbs place additional stress on power lines. Crews are working around the clock to restore service as conditions allow, but restoration efforts may be slowed by hazardous road conditions and ongoing weather impacts.
