GEORGIA — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Henry County led to the seizure of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine Wednesday afternoon, according to the Locust Grove Police Department.

Police said a Crime Suppression Unit officer stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on I-75 near the mile marker 212 just after 4 p.m. for a traffic violation. During the stop, the officer observed indicators consistent with possible criminal activity, prompting a further investigation.

Authorities said a search of the vehicle uncovered several concealed containers in the cargo area. The contents of the containers field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Investigators estimate the total weight of the seized drugs at approximately 4.14 kilograms, with an estimated street value exceeding $400,000.

The driver was taken into custody. The suspect’s identity and age were not immediately released.

Locust Grove police said they are working with federal law enforcement partners as the investigation continues.
